Kids Craft Ideas for the Summer
Posted On 2011-05-23 , 10:46 AM
A good fun idea to help keep the kids occupied, happy and creative is with finger or brush painting. You can do this on your patio, back deck or even on the lawn! Spread out and old sheet or blanket to minimize splatter, set up an easel if you have one, or just use pieces of cut up cardboard for a foundation to put their paper on and let then go at it!
We keep a trash can on the back deck for when these projects are completed, saving the refridgerator art, of course, and the old blanket or sheet can always be folded up and used another day.

Children and Learning Crafts
Through play, children learn skills such as social, creativity, hand-to-eye coordination, problem solving and stimulation of their imagination. Arts and crafts designed for their learning levels can provide hours of play and the enjoyment of building their skills.
Educational toys are typically built for and used by children. You might argue that a learning craft or toy is actually any toy. It all depends on what you do with it. Todays arts and crafts are designed with the childs learning in mind, and developed on a higher level than ever before.
It goes without saying that we need the parents involvement here. Children enjoy interacting with their parent and a play time set aside for learning crafts is a valuable asset. That time develops bonding of parent and child, but also helps the child to learn social interaction and gain patience for a appropriate amount of time, By the way, this can help develop Mom or Dads patience levels as well.
To me, there was nothing that was more fun than to sit down with my children and put together a craft project, play with learning toys or just scribble on plain paper with crayons or do cut outs. Now, that I am a Grandpa, I get to do the same things with my Grandchildren. It has been more fun than ever.
So, Parents, please, please play and interact with your childs learning with arts and crafts. You won’t regret it!
